Letter to the Editor

Hello, my name is Moshe and I am featured on the cover of Issue 2 of the New School Free Press. I wasn't fully aware of how my picture was going to be used regarding the topic of New School diversity. I take issue, as a person of color, with the way my likeness was attached to the heading of "Lack of Diversity Disturbs Students." I was not informed that this was the agenda being pushed, and if I had known, I would have declined to be photographed, as I do not feel disturbed in any way.

I find that I have had a very positive experience at The New School. In all honesty, I feel as though my position as a person of color was exploited to push someone else's issue with the university. What sounds like a valid and well intended article, in its inception ended up reinforcing a lot of what can be considered racial flaws within The New School.

I am hoping that the school paper will take this seriously and somehow make things right. I would appreciate if the paper's next edition reflected my opinion, because it has now become a public issue that has a lot of people talking, professors and students alike. Since my image, my person, was publicly used to promote the controversial topic of New School diversity, I would publicly like my name cleared, to regain my voice, and tell my story. Thank you for your time.

Moshe
